A strong policy is born from solid research. This principle is the spirit of The 12th East Java Economic (EJAVEC) Forum 2025 held by the Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (KPwBI) of East Java Province together with the Faculty of Economics and Business of Airlangga University (FEB Unair) and Indonesian Economic Scholars Association (ISEI) Surabaya, Thursday (14/8/2025) in Surabaya.
Carrying the theme “Improving the Productivity, Innovation, and Economic Capacity of East Java in the Middle of Various Global Challenges”, EJAVEC presents two main agendas, namely Call for Papers for general categories and students, as well as economic conferences attended by hundreds of participants from academics, practitioners, regulators, and local governments.
Synergy of Academia, Regulators, and Government
Deputy Deputy Representative of BI Jatim, M. Noor Nugroho, asserted EJAVEC is a clear proof of synergy between regulators, colleges, and professional associations.
“This forum is a forum for the contribution of academics and practitioners to strengthen regional economic policies, especially in the face of increasingly complex global challenges,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dean of FEB Unair, Prof. Dian Agustia, mentions that EJAVEC is a real form of academic support to regulators through research-based scientific work.
Deputy Governor of East Java, Emil Elestianto Dardak, in his keynote speech affirmed the strategic position of East Java as the “New Gate of the Archipelago”.
“Peran ini membutuhkan dukungan semua pihak, termasuk kajian ilmiah yang mendalam dan terarah agar Jawa Timur semakin siap menghadapi persaingan global,” ungkap Emil.
East Java Economic Strategy
Diskusi konferensi menghadirkan tiga pakar ekonomi nasional: Yose Rizal Damuri (Direktur Eksekutif CSIS), Prof. Ari Kuncoro (Rektor Universitas Indonesia), dan Prof. Rudi Purwono (Guru Besar Unair).
Mereka menyoroti pentingnya strategi memperkuat ketahanan ekonomi Jawa Timur melalui lima aspek utama: produktivitas, inovasi, inklusivitas, keberlanjutan, dan resiliensi.
